Sustainable Textiles
Sustainability is at the heart of my textile work. I incorporate eco-conscious practices at every stage of the process, from fiber to finished piece.
Yarn Choices
I repurpose Pendleton wool blanket selvedges that would otherwise go to landfill, rolling them into “yarn” for rugs and wall pieces. Sometimes these are naturally dyed for added color.
Reusing Materials
I source donated yarn from local scrap stores, reclaim fibers from antique shops and flea markets, and even use baling twine from vintage farm supply stores—keeping materials out of the landfill and avoiding new production.
Natural Dyes
Whenever possible, yarn is left in its natural colors. When dyeing, I use natural dyes, often locally sourced in the Pacific Northwest. Mordants affect the final shade, creating unique results with each batch.
Examples of Natural Dyes
Cochineal: vibrant pink or red
Oak Gall: gray (with rust mordant)
Saxon Blue: turquoise
Coreopsis: orange
Each piece is crafted with care, balancing beauty and sustainability, so every textile is mindful, functional, and one-of-a-kind.
